Question 1

Who can access your services?

Together in Motion Services supports people of all ages and backgrounds who have a permanent and significant disability. We work with NDIS participants across Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. We also support people who are in the process of applying for the NDIS or transitioning between providers. If you are unsure whether you are eligible, please contact us — we are happy to talk through your situation and point you in the right direction.

Question 2

Do I need to be an NDIS participant?

Accepted Answer

Most of our services are funded through the NDIS, so you will generally need an active NDIS plan to access our supports. However, we can assist people who are in the process of applying for the NDIS or awaiting their first plan. In some cases, we may be able to provide limited support while your application is being processed. Contact us to discuss your specific circumstances and we will do our best to help.

Question 3

Do you support self-managed and plan-managed participants?

Yes. Together in Motion Services works with participants across all three NDIS funding management types: NDIA-managed (agency-managed), plan-managed and self-managed. If you are NDIA-managed, the NDIS pays us directly. If you are plan-managed, your Plan Manager handles invoicing on your behalf. If you are self-managed, we invoice you directly and you claim reimbursement from the NDIS. We will explain the process clearly when you first engage with us.

What areas do you service?

We currently operate across Victoria (Melbourne metro and regional areas), South Australia (Adelaide and surrounds), Western Australia (Perth metro) and the Northern Territory (Darwin and surrounds). Visit our Service Areas page for a full list of suburbs and regions, or use the postcode search to check availability in your area. We are continually expanding — if we are not yet in your area, register your interest and we will be in touch when we launch nearby.

Question 5

Can I choose my support workers?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We believe strongly in participant choice and control. You can request support workers based on language, cultural background, gender, interests, lived experience or any other preference that matters to you. We will introduce you to potential workers before any support begins so you can decide if the match feels right. If a match is not working out at any point, you can always request a change — we want you to feel comfortable and supported.

How does NDIS funding work?

Accepted Answer

NDIS funding is allocated in your plan across three budget categories: Core Supports (everyday activities and assistance), Capital Supports (equipment and home modifications) and Capacity Building Supports (building skills and independence). Core Supports can generally be used flexibly across support types. Your funding is managed as NDIA-managed, plan-managed or self-managed. Together in Motion Services works with all three management types and will guide you through the process.

Question 7

Do you charge above the NDIS price guide?

Accepted Answer

No. Together in Motion Services charges at or below the NDIS Support Catalogue rates. We are always transparent about pricing before you engage our services, and there are no hidden fees. Any out-of-pocket costs — such as activity entry fees or transport expenses — will be discussed and agreed with you in advance. A copy of our current price list is available on request.

Question 8

What if my NDIS funding runs out before my plan review?

If you are concerned your funding may run out before your plan review, contact your Support Coordinator or LAC as soon as possible. You may be able to request an unscheduled plan review if your circumstances have changed significantly. In the meantime, we will work with you to prioritise your most essential supports and use your funding as efficiently as possible. We can also help you prepare evidence for a plan review request.

Question 9

Can I use my NDIS funding to pay for activities and outings?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in many cases. Community Participation funding (Support Category 0125) can be used to fund support worker time for community activities, social outings, sport and recreation, and other activities that help you achieve your goals. The cost of the activity itself — such as entry fees or tickets — is generally not covered by NDIS funding and would be an out-of-pocket expense. We will always clarify what is and is not covered before planning any activities with you.

Question 10

How do I make a referral?

Accepted Answer

You can make a referral using our online referral form at /referrals. The form takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete and covers the participant's details, NDIS information, support needs and referrer information. You can also call us on 1800 TIM CARE or email referrals@togetherinmotion.com.au. We will acknowledge your referral within 2 business days and aim to complete an initial intake assessment within 5 business days.

Question 11

Can I refer myself?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Self-referrals are very welcome. You do not need a Support Coordinator, LAC or any other professional to refer you on your behalf. Simply complete our online referral form or give us a call. We will guide you through the intake process and answer any questions you have along the way.

Question 12

What happens after a referral is submitted?

Accepted Answer

Once we receive your referral, a member of our intake team will review the information and contact you within 2 business days to acknowledge receipt. We will then arrange an initial intake conversation — usually a phone call or video meeting — to learn more about your needs and goals. After that, we will confirm whether we have capacity to provide the requested supports and, if so, begin the onboarding process. For urgent situations, we aim to respond within 24–48 hours.

How soon can services start?

Accepted Answer

Once your referral has been accepted and your Service Agreement is signed, we aim to commence supports within 5–10 business days for most services. For Supported Independent Living (SIL) and accommodation supports, the timeline may be longer depending on availability and the complexity of your needs. We will always give you a clear timeframe during the intake process and keep you updated throughout.

What is a Service Agreement?

A Service Agreement is a written agreement between you and Together in Motion Services that outlines the supports we will provide, the agreed rates, the schedule of supports and the rights and responsibilities of both parties. It is a requirement of the NDIS that registered providers have a Service Agreement in place before delivering supports. We will walk you through the agreement before you sign and answer any questions you have.

Question 15

How do I cancel or change a service?

Accepted Answer

You can request changes to your supports at any time by contacting your key worker or our office. For scheduled support sessions, we ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations where possible. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice may incur a short-notice cancellation fee in line with the NDIS Support Catalogue. Your Service Agreement will outline the specific cancellation terms that apply to your supports.

Question 16

Can I end my Service Agreement?

Yes. You have the right to end your Service Agreement at any time. We ask for reasonable notice — usually 2 weeks — so we can ensure a smooth transition and help you find alternative supports if needed. We will never pressure you to stay and will always act in your best interests. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your supports, please speak with us first — we would much rather resolve the issue than lose you as a participant.

Question 17

What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support that provides assistance and supervision in a shared or individual living arrangement. SIL funding pays for the support workers who assist you in your home — it does not cover rent, groceries or household costs. SIL is designed for people who need daily support to live as independently as possible. Together in Motion Services provides SIL in shared homes across VIC, SA, WA and NT, as well as in participants' own homes.

Question 18

Does SIL funding pay for rent, groceries or utilities?

Accepted Answer

No. SIL funding covers the cost of support workers only — it does not pay for rent, groceries, utilities, household items or personal expenses. These costs are your responsibility and are typically covered through your Disability Support Pension, other income or personal savings. In a shared SIL home, household costs are usually split between housemates. We will explain all costs clearly before you move in so there are no surprises.

Question 19

What is the difference between SIL, SDA, STA and MTA?

SIL (Supported Independent Living) funds the support workers who assist you in your home on an ongoing basis. SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) funds the physical home itself — purpose-built or modified housing for people with extreme functional impairment. STA (Short Term Accommodation), also known as respite, is short-term accommodation and support for up to 14 days. MTA (Medium Term Accommodation) is temporary accommodation for up to 90 days, typically used while waiting for a permanent housing solution. SIL and SDA are often used together but are separate funding streams.

Can you guarantee SDA approval?

No provider can guarantee SDA approval — the decision rests entirely with the NDIS. SDA is one of the most complex and tightly assessed NDIS supports, and approval requires strong evidence of extreme functional impairment and a high support need. We can assist you to gather the necessary evidence, connect you with the right allied health professionals and prepare a strong application, but the final decision is made by the NDIA. We will always be honest with you about your prospects.

Question 21

Can I choose who I live with in a SIL home?

We do our best to match housemates based on compatibility — including age, interests, communication styles and support needs. You will always be consulted before any new housemate is introduced to your home. If a living arrangement is not working, we will work with you to find a solution. We also offer individual SIL arrangements for participants who prefer to live alone or with their own family.

What accommodation options do you offer?

Together in Motion Services offers a range of accommodation supports including Supported Independent Living (SIL) in shared and individual homes, Short Term Accommodation (STA/respite) for short breaks, Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) for transitional housing, and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) for participants with extreme functional impairment. Our properties are located across VIC, SA, WA and NT and are designed to be accessible, comfortable and home-like.

Can you assist with hospital discharge?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have a dedicated Hospital Discharge and Transition Support service to help participants move safely from hospital back into the community. We work closely with hospital discharge teams, allied health professionals and NDIS planners to coordinate a smooth transition. This may include arranging temporary accommodation, setting up in-home supports, sourcing equipment and connecting you with community services. Early referral is strongly recommended — please contact us as soon as a discharge date is known.

How do I apply for a place in a SIL or SDA property?

To apply for a place in one of our SIL or SDA properties, start by submitting a referral through our online referral form or by calling us. Our intake team will assess your support needs, review your NDIS plan and discuss available properties with you. For SDA, you will need SDA funding in your NDIS plan before we can offer you a place. We maintain a waitlist for high-demand properties and will keep you informed of availability.

Question 25

What daily living supports do you provide?

Our Assistance with Daily Living supports include help with personal care (showering, dressing, grooming), meal preparation and cooking, household tasks (cleaning, laundry, shopping), medication management, and support with health and medical appointments. We also provide Life Skills Development to help you build independence in these areas over time. Supports are tailored to your individual goals and can be provided in your home or in the community.

Question 26

Can support workers assist with medical or health care tasks?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in many cases. Some health care tasks — such as medication administration, wound care or catheter management — can be performed by trained support workers under a delegated care arrangement with a registered nurse or allied health professional. All workers who perform clinical tasks receive specific training and are supervised by our clinical team. We will always assess the complexity of your health care needs during intake and ensure the right level of support is in place.

Question 27

Do you provide overnight or 24-hour supports?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide overnight supports, active night supports and 24-hour care for participants who require continuous or high-level assistance. The type of overnight support — active (worker awake) or inactive (worker on-call) — will depend on your assessed needs and what is funded in your NDIS plan. We will work with you and your allied health team to determine the most appropriate arrangement.

What community access supports do you offer?

Accepted Answer

Our Community Participation supports help you get out and about, connect with others and pursue your interests. This can include attending social groups, sporting activities, arts and cultural events, volunteering, education and training, and any other community activities that align with your goals. Support workers accompany you and provide the level of assistance you need — from minimal prompting to full physical support.

Question 29

Can NDIS funding cover the cost of activities?

Accepted Answer

NDIS Community Participation funding covers the cost of your support worker's time — it does not cover the cost of the activity itself, such as entry fees, tickets or equipment. These out-of-pocket costs are your responsibility. We will always discuss activity costs with you in advance so you can plan accordingly. In some cases, concession pricing or community grants may be available to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.

Question 30

Do you run group activities or social programmes?

Yes. Together in Motion Services runs a range of group activities, workshops and social programmes throughout the year across our service regions. These include cooking classes, art workshops, fitness groups, community outings and information sessions. Check our Events page for upcoming activities, or speak with your key worker about what is available in your area. Group activities are a great way to meet other participants and build social connections.

Do you provide transport supports?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Together in Motion Services provides Transport supports to help participants travel to appointments, activities, work, education and other destinations. Transport can be provided in a support worker's vehicle, a Together in Motion Services vehicle or via accessible public transport with support worker assistance. We also assist participants to build their own transport independence over time through our Life Skills Development programme.

How are transport costs handled?

Accepted Answer

Transport costs depend on how your NDIS plan is set up. If you have Transport funding in your plan (Support Category 0102), this can be used to pay for transport supports directly. If transport is provided as part of another support (such as community participation), the cost may be claimed from your Core Supports budget. Mileage rates are set by the NDIS Support Catalogue. We will always be transparent about transport costs and will not charge above the NDIS rates.

Question 33

Can support workers use my vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in some circumstances. If you prefer your support worker to use your own vehicle, this can be arranged. The worker must hold a current driver's licence and your vehicle must be appropriately insured. Any costs associated with using your vehicle — such as fuel — would be discussed and agreed in your Service Agreement. Please raise this preference during your intake conversation and we will make the necessary arrangements.

How do I register for an event?

You can register for any of our events through the Events page on our website. Simply find the event you are interested in, click 'Register' and complete the short registration form. You will receive a confirmation email with event details. Some events have limited places, so we recommend registering early. If an event is full, you can join the waitlist and we will contact you if a place becomes available.

Question 35

Are events free for participants?

Accepted Answer

Most Together in Motion Services events are free for participants and their families or carers. Some specialised workshops or external venue events may have a small cost, which will be clearly noted on the event listing. NDIS funding cannot generally be used to pay event entry fees, but your support worker's time to attend with you can be claimed from your Community Participation budget. Contact us if you have any questions about costs for a specific event.

Question 36

Can I bring a support person or carer to events?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You are always welcome to bring a support person, family member or carer to our events. Please indicate this when you register so we can ensure there is enough space and catering. If you need a support worker to attend with you, this can be arranged through your regular support schedule — speak with your key worker to organise this in advance.

Question 37

How is my personal information protected?

Accepted Answer

Together in Motion Services takes your privacy seriously. We collect, use and store your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Your information is stored securely and is only accessed by staff who need it to provide your supports. We will never share your information with third parties without your consent, except where required by law. You can request access to your personal information at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer at privacy@togetherinmotion.com.au.

Question 38

What do I need to consent to when I start services?

Before services begin, we will ask you to sign a Consent and Privacy Form and a Service Agreement. The Consent Form covers how we collect and use your personal information, who we may share it with (such as allied health professionals or the NDIS), and your rights regarding your information. You can withdraw consent at any time. We will always explain what you are consenting to in plain language and answer any questions before you sign.

Question 39

Can I access or correct my personal information?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections if any information is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@togetherinmotion.com.au or call us on 1800 TIM CARE. We will respond to your request within 30 days. In some limited circumstances we may be unable to provide access — if so, we will explain why in writing.

How do I provide feedback or make a complaint?

We welcome all feedback — positive or negative. You can provide feedback or make a complaint by calling us on 1800 TIM CARE, emailing feedback@togetherinmotion.com.au, completing our online feedback form on the Contact page, or writing to us at our registered office. All complaints are acknowledged within 2 business days and resolved within 10 business days where possible. You can also contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission on 1800 035 544 if you prefer to raise your concern externally.

Question 41

Will making a complaint affect my services?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. Making a complaint will never affect the quality or continuity of your supports. We have strict policies to prevent any form of retaliation or adverse action against participants who raise concerns. Your complaint will be handled confidentially and professionally. We view complaints as an opportunity to improve, and we are grateful when participants and families take the time to tell us when something is not right.

What is the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission?

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is an independent government body that regulates NDIS providers and workers. It handles complaints about NDIS providers, investigates reportable incidents and sets the standards that all registered providers must meet. You can contact the Commission on 1800 035 544 or at ndiscommission.gov.au. Together in Motion Services is a registered NDIS provider and is fully compliant with all NDIS Practice Standards.

How do I apply for employment?

We are always looking for passionate, skilled people to join our team. You can view current vacancies and apply through our Careers page at /careers. Applications are submitted online and include your resume, relevant qualifications, availability and preferred work locations. We also accept expressions of interest for future roles. All successful applicants must hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check (where applicable), First Aid certificate and the right to work in Australia.

What qualifications do support workers need?

All Together in Motion Services support workers hold a minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent, a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, a Working with Children Check (where applicable), current First Aid and CPR certification, and have completed the NDIS Worker Orientation Module. Many of our workers hold higher qualifications in disability, community services, nursing or allied health. All workers undergo a thorough induction and ongoing professional development.

Do you offer student placements or volunteer opportunities?

Yes. We welcome students undertaking placements in disability, community services, nursing, allied health and social work. We also offer volunteer opportunities for people who want to contribute to our community programmes and events.
