Specialist Disability Accommodation

Purpose-built homes designed around your needs.

What is SDA?

SDA funding pays for the bricks and mortar of purpose-built accessible housing — not the support staffing inside it. It is available to a smaller group of NDIS participants who have very high support needs or extreme functional impairment and require housing with specific design features.

SDA properties are built to one of four design categories: Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, Robust, and High Physical Support. Each category has specific design requirements to meet the needs of different participant groups.

Together in Motion Services can assist participants to understand their SDA eligibility, navigate the NDIS SDA process, and connect with appropriate SDA properties and providers. We also provide the in-home SIL supports for participants living in SDA.

What could this support look like?

Every person's support is different. Here is a realistic example of what a day with Together in Motion Services might look like.

Home environment

Your SDA home is purpose-built for your needs — with features like ceiling hoists, wider doorways, smart home technology or high physical support design built in from the start.

Daily support

SIL support workers are present in your SDA home to assist with your daily routines, personal care and any other support needs. The home and the support work together.

Community life

Your SDA home is a base for your life — not a facility. You come and go as you choose, with support to participate in your community, pursue your interests and live your life.

Your choice and control

SDA is about finding a home that is truly yours. You choose your location, your design category, your housemates and how your home is set up. Together in Motion Services supports your preferences throughout the process.

How is the support personalised?

SDA is about finding or building a home that genuinely fits your needs. We work with you to understand your functional requirements, preferred location, living preferences and long-term goals — then help you find or develop an SDA property that matches.
